The goal of pharmaceutical drying consists in drying the wet cakes coming from filtration and centrifuge processes. For this purpose the pharmaceutical drying process is always combined with the use of vacuum pumps, which allow the extraction of the solvents contained in the products to be treated.

The Italvacuum vacuum pumps, as well as in the pharmaceutical drying processes, are also exploited in distillation, reaction and crystallization.
In the pharmaceutical drying field Italvacuum manufactures both static and rotary dryers. The last ones can be both double cone and cylindrical.
The double cone vacuum dryers, called CRIOX System, represent the bottonhole of the technology that Italvacuum has developed in the pharmaceutical drying field. Equipped with lump-breaker groups in order to obtain fine powders, they have achieved an international success: more than 400 units installed from their introduction on the market up to date.
The cylindrical vacuum dryers are designed mainly for drying, mixing and condensing operations in the manufacture of granulated plastic materials.
Italvacuum, apart from revamping the vacuum pump line, has always been devoted to enhance and expand its range of vacuum dryers. For this reason several devices for the charge and the discharge operations of the CRIOX System and for washing automatically the cabinet tray dryers have been developed in the course of time. Recently, the approach to innovation which characterizes the Italvacuum plants for the pharmaceutical drying has led to the launch of a brand-new vacuum dryer: the Planex System, patented horizontal paddle vacuum dryer. Thanks to the technical solutions adopted, among which the eccentric agitator with two independent movements for a double combined rotation, the Planex System today represents the most advanced drying technology available on the market, especially suitable for the production of API and fine chemicals.

Italvacuum has implemented an ISO 9001-certified Quality Management System that covers all the aspects of the company’s work, from design and production of each individual component to customer service. In addition, given the importance of welding to end product quality, Italvacuum has certified its processes and personnel to ISO 3834-2.
